Uganda Evaluation Association/Somali Delegation – Learning Visit to Uganda
A Somali delegation visited the Uganda Evaluation Association (UEA) to learn from Uganda’s experience in institutionalizing evaluation. The visit aimed to support Somalia’s efforts in establishing a strong National Evaluation Society, which would promote evaluation standards, strengthen capacities, and foster a community of evaluators. The delegation, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MoPIED), gained insights into UEA’s governance structure, policy engagement, capacity building, advocacy, and operational best practices.
During the visit, the Somali delegation learned about Office of the President, Office of the Prime Minister, BMAU- Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Uganda Evaluation Association and Uganda Management Institute’s role in shaping national evaluation policy, building evaluator capacity, and promoting a culture of evaluation within public institutions. They gained valuable knowledge on tools, standards, and frameworks used to support high-quality evaluation practice.
