The 5th Tanzania Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Week

The 5th Tanzania Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Week will take place from September 22–26, 2026 at Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge in Arusha, Tanzania. Hosted by Tanzania’s Prime Minister’s Office and TanEA, the event focuses on moving “From Evidence to Action” for sustainable development. [1]

Here are the key details you need to know about the conference:

  • Theme: Strengthening human-centered evaluation for sustainable development.
  • Hosts: The Prime Minister’s Office and the Tanzania Evaluation Association (TanEA).
  • Venue: Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge is located midway between Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport. [1]

MEL Week is a tool used by policymakers to check if government programs work well. Just like a teacher grades a test to see what a student learned, MEL Week brings leaders together to “grade” government projects. This ensures taxpayer money helps the community effectively.
